POST 7: AN EXPERT THAT I ADMIRE

 Hi! this time I will talk to you about an expert that I admire. Thinking what expert could be an example for me the first that comes to mind is professor Claudio Donoso Z. Forest Engineer from the University of Chile and Master of Science from the University of California (USA), he was an expert in Forest Ecology and Silviculture, it really is a great inspiration to me.

As an academic at the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Natural Resources, he held different positions, including that of director of the Institute of Forestry and Prodecano in 1994. He was also co-editor of the magazine Bosque in the 1980s, where he also published various articles scientists. In 2000, the Austral University of Chile appointed him Emeritus Professor, the same date he retired from the University.

It obtained the Recognition of CONAF and Ministry of Agriculture for work carried out by the native forest (1994). Luis Oyarzún Award, from the Austral University of Chile (1999), whose purpose is to give recognition to personalities who have contributed in an outstanding way, through science or art, to the achievement of harmonious relationships between human beings and nature.

They highlighted his scientific contribution to the in-depth knowledge of the native forests of Chile and his personal commitment to protecting them. The College of Forest Engineers of the Los Lagos Region (2002) awarded him for his excellence and contribution to the knowledge of native forests. Then, in 2007, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the College of Forest Engineers of Chile. In 2009 he was awarded again, this time by the Universidad Católica de Temuco, for his outstanding academic career and as an expert in the sustainable development of the native forest.

I am grateful for the tremendous work that professor Claudio Donoso did throughout his life, contributing enormously to the care of the native forest.
